The Southeastern North Carolina Chapter of Delta Waterfowl is holding it's 4th Annual Banquet & Auction November 14th, 2003 starting at 7:00 pm at the BPO Elks Lodge at 5102 Oleander Drive in Wilmington.  Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Shooter's Choice on Gordon Road in Wilmington or at Canady's Sport Center on Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington. Prices are $45 for singles or $60 for couples.  Enter before November 7th and be automatically entered into an early bird raffle for a framed and matted Joe Seme print.

September, 2003

NC Wildlife Resources Commission & the US Fish & Wildlife Service have released the 2003-2004 waterfowl season dates and bag limits.  Canvasbacks have come back into our bag limits, but not until December 22nd along with pintails.

Ducks, Ponds Increase in Breeding Survey (July 3, 2003)

BISMARCK, ND—Duck hunters breathed a collective sigh of relief this week when the US Fish and Wildlife Service announced an increase in the spring breeding population and vastly improved water conditions on the prairie breeding grounds.  Topping the list of the 10 most popular species is the mallard, which increased from 7.5 million breeding ducks last spring to 7.9 million this year breaking a three-year decline. The overall duck population also broke a three-year slide, jumping to 36.2 million from last spring’s 31.2 million.
